Industrial Testing & Hearing Protection - This course is for anyone undertaking audiometry as part of a hearing or health screening program. The course has been designed in line with the latest British Society of Audiology and Health & Safety Executive guidelines on audiometric testing and hearing conservation. It is accredited and moderated by the BSA and delegates who complete the course and assessments will receive a BSA Certificate in Industrial Audiometry. We are one of only three BSA approved course providers in the country. Content:Introduction to noise-induced hearing loss a-c threshold testing, baseline and monitoring tests. description of manual, computerised and self-recording audiometers. Hughson-Westlake and Bekesy techniques. Reliability of results, monitoring the environment and dealing with malingers. How to examine an ear safely and perform an audiogram in accordance with BSA procedures (including practical work) Interpreting and categorising audiograms using HSE guidelines. Record keeping and referrals Limits for noise exposure in industry, including a description of the dBA and equivalent continuous sound level scales. Personal Hearing Protection with a discussion of the best types of custom ear plugs for protection from industrial and social noise. This two-day course starts each day at 9.15 and finishes by 5.00 Some lecture notes will be provided to study before the course The course fee of £470 includes lecture notes, BSA moderation fee, certificate of course completion, and refreshments. A subsidised lunch is available in the hospital restaurant The course includes assessments (practical and theory) and some homework. The 'hands-on' nature of the course means that numbers will be strictly limited, book early to be sure of a place.
