Industrial Testing & Hearing Protection - This course is for anyone undertaking audiometry as part of a hearing or health screening program. It is accredited by the British Society of Audiology and delegates who complete the course and assessments will receive a BSA Certificate in Industrial Audiometry. The course has been designed in line with the latest BSA and Health & Safety Executive guidelines on audiometric testing and hearing conservation. Content:Introduction to noise-induced hearing loss a-c threshold testing, baseline and monitoring tests. description of manual, computerised and self-recording audiometers. Hughson-Westlake and Bekesy techniques. Reliability of results, monitoring the environment and dealing with malingers. How to examine an ear safely and perform an audiogram in accordance with BSA procedures (including practical work) Interpreting and categorising audiograms using HSE guidelines. Record keeping and referrals Limits for noise exposure in industry, including a description of the dBA and equivalent continuous sound level scales. Personal Hearing Protection with a discussion of the best types of custom ear plugs for protection from industrial and social noise. The course includes assessments (practical and theory) and some homework. The 'hands-on' nature of the course means that numbers will be limited, book early to be sure of a place.

This two-day course will be held at the Ramada Hotel & Resort in Gloucester, starting at 9.15 and due to finish around 4.30 The course fee of £490 includes lecture notes, BSA moderation fee, certificate of course completion, 2-course lunch and refreshments.
